According to the The United Kingdom Census of 1881,
Arthur's wife Mary was born in Merthyr, Glamorgan, (South) Wales in 1855.
In the census, Arthur's occupation is shown as Colliery Stoker.
In Arthur's Petition for Naturalization, 14 March 1918,
his occupation is shown as Electric Railway Substation Operator. Carl Arthur (3),
said before his death that Arthur and his son William Henry electrified the street cars converting them
from horse-drawn to electric in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in the early 1900's.
